Practice Self-Compassion
(This is a Summary of this week’s Mojo Moment, you can get the full video here)
Courage doesn’t always roar; sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says, “I’ll try again tomorrow.”
Mary Anne Radmacher, Live Boldly
When we have an ‘everything is wrong’ kind of day and we’re feeling low, where can we find solace?
Here’s an idea to practice self-compassion, taking care of your heart and soul so that you can get up tomorrow and take another go at success.
Our motivational coaching quote today is from Mary Anne Radmacher’s book, “Live Boldly” + we’re looking at how being nice to ourselves can be very courageous.
Our Big Ideas:
Idea 1: Sometimes it’s best to retreat
I call it taking a mulligan: sometimes we need to re-set the day.
When you walk away and focus on other things, you let your Unconscious Mind work on the problem without getting in the way.
Sometimes you need to give your mind time to stretch your capacity to hold the new thing.
Idea 2: Self-compassion is being FOR yourself
What is self-compassion? It’s being with yourself and FOR yourself.
Compassion is having concern for the sufferings and misfortunes of others so self-compassion is when you care about your own suffering.
Idea 3: Courage can be found in retreat
Why do we need courage and how can we nurture it?
Courage is usually thought of as forward, moving, powerful, pushing through – but here we are saying that sometimes it can be MORE courageous to cede ground and regroup.
When we’re doing something new, we’ve got to give our Unconscious Mind time to catch up – and it can be very hard to admit that there’s something we need time to process or work to do or wounds to heal.
What is ONE WAY you could show your heart compassion today?
